Flying With the Eagle, Racing the Great Bear
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (March, 2001)
Average review score:

Garrett, a 5th grader at Boise-Eliot says:This is a great book with Native American stories from all over America. It has many stories and about four sections with about five stories in each section. I have some Native American blood and this book has stories from my ancestors. You should really read this book.

The Forgotten Bear
Published in School & Library Binding by MacMillan Pub Co (August, 1978)
Average review score:

This book taught me empathyWhen I was a young boy, this simple story taught me about empathy, compassion, and the need for friendship. It remains my favorite story some two and a half decades after I first read it. I would strongly urge any parent to read it to their young children or, better yet, offer it as reading material for a new reader to tackle on his or her own.

Fourth of July Bear
Published in Hardcover by William Morrow (April, 1991)
Average review score:

Great book for children facing a move.Becca leaves her best friend and the ways of the city to live in a less populated area of Maine. Also has a wide of variety of options for unit studies for homeschooling. Ursa Major, 4th of July, Maine and its berries, etc. My children really enjoy reading it over and over.

Fred Bear's World of Archery
Published in Hardcover by Doubleday (August, 1979)
Average review score:

The most comprehensive book on all levels of archery! This book is the best book on archery I have ever read! I first found this book in a local library. I'm trying to find a copy of this book (Preferably Brand New), unfortunately it is out of print. Fred Bear, as many know, is the best bowyer who has lived. It is veerrryyyy long and explains, step-by-step, all techniques from beginer to advanced. If I could only have one archery book. This is it!

Freedmen, the Fourteenth Amendment, and the Right to Bear Arms, 1866-1876
Published in Hardcover by Praeger Publishers (November, 1998)
Average review score:

Firearms Favor EqualityStephen Halbrook does it again with a scholarly exegesis of the Fourteenth Amendment exposing anew the racist roots of gun control. Halbrook reveals the lies and lays bare the cynicism of those who claim the Constitution permits or even favors anti-gun laws. A must read for those who still believe in liberty. The Fourteenth Amendment meant to enshrine and extend the Second Amendment specifically, along with the rest of the Bill of Rights, to newly freed blacks and make them enforceable against state governments.

A Friend for Little Bear
Published in School & Library Binding by Candlewick Press (August, 1996)
Average review score:

A great, great book for kids and adults. This is an incredible book. I work in an office that selects books for children and this is everyone's current favorite. In fact, we still haven't stopped talking about it and have all ordered personal copies. Deep (but not in an annoying way), also funny with great illustrations. A real story, which seems to be increasingly rare in children's books.

From Trauma to Understanding: A Guide for Parents of Children With Sexual Behavior Problems (Safer Society Series: No 10)
Published in Paperback by Safer Society Pr (August, 1993)
Average review score:

Comforting and superbly written for parentsThis small pamphlet contains a wealth of comfort and information for parents of abused children. In particular, this book addresses abused children who have begun acting out sexually with other children. The authors delineate criteria for differentiating developmentally expected sex play and problematic sexual behavior in children. Practical suggestions to assist parents in helping their children, and to alleviate the parents' anxiety, are worth their weight in gold. I highly recommend this book to professionals working with abused children and to parents who are struggling to understand how to respond to their child's problems.

Ghost Bears : Exploring the Biodiversity Crisis
Published in Paperback by Island Press (August, 1993)
Average review score:

Read a beautifully written book about a devastating process.R. Edward Grumbine is a storyteller. Above is a book that discusses the current crisis regarding the environment, how we got there, and where we are headed. Swirled together are stories of natural (and personal) discoveries with political and scientific explanations. His ability to cover these ranges of interest only make the reality of this subject even more shocking. This is as much poetry as it is a textbook. It is a wake up call, and a call to arms. I highly recommend this book for those who choose the wonder and beauty of the wilderness, and for those who are afraid of a world without it.

Giant Pandas
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Average review score:

Fascinating facts, conservation info, cute color photosThis would be a great addition to any home or library. It is in full-color on glossy stock. Fascinating facts, conservation information, a glossary, & websites of interest are all included here.
The pandas' features are described in detail including information on size, shape, fur, & their special adaptations. Photos of these adorable animals show them eating, resting & playing. There is even one of a tiny newborn.
Classification, social activities, mating, communication, habitat, & eating habits are also explained. The birth & care of panda cubs is documented as well. There are even folklore stories about these remarkable animals.
There are facts about the pandas' status & a map showing their locations. Since the pandas are vanishing, a discussion of what is being done to save them & what you can do to help is noted as well.

Gina.Jamie.Father.Bear.
Published in School & Library Binding by Atheneum (01 September, 2002)
Average review score:

Too Lovely to Miss!Gina has lost a mom, and a dad. Mom lives with her new husband, and though Gina lives with her dad, he's not really there either.
Jamie's mother is gone as well, and his Father seems to have abondoned them to the elements.
Both begin to search for their lost fathers, and though both live in drastically different worlds, find those worlds colliding in a most fantastic tale. A tale that includes a gold ring, a magic tree, and a shape-changing bear.
As beautiful as branches twining together, this is a story wonderfully told.
